Saffir–Simpson Hurricane Wind Scale (SSHWS)
This scale is used in different regions to define strengths of a cyclone. A cyclone is called differently by region. The minimum intensity to be defined as a cyclone is 64 knots or 119 km/h of wind.
- In the North Atlantic Ocean and Northeast Pacific Ocean its called a hurricane
- In the Northwest Pacific Ocean its called a typhoon which can increase to super typhoon
- In the Southwest Pacific Ocean its called a severe tropical cyclone
- In the North Indian Ocean its called a severe cyclonic storm
- In the Southwest Indian Ocean its called a tropical cyclone
